Ways You Can Give

The Shepherd’s House is a faith-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible. The Shepherd’s House does not receive any governmental grants and is fully supported by generous supporters like you. There are several different ways to give to The Shepherd’s House:

Cash – The most common and easiest way to give a tax-deductible gift

In-Kind – We can always use donations of food, clothing, hygiene items, camping gear, picnic supplies, and paper goods.  A gift of remodeling and furnishing residential rooms and larger living areas can be a great gift to create a hospitable living environment.

Investments – A gift of appreciated assets is better for an individual than an equivalent cash gift. Since the full market value of the appreciated assets can be deducted, but the individual is not taxed on the gain. This effectively enhances the tax benefit of such a contribution, and leaves more of the proceeds available for the work of the ministry.

Legacy Gift – This is simply including a provision in your will or trust that designates a dollar gift or percentage of your estate that you would like to have contributed on your passing. While the benefit is deferred, leaving a legacy helps to provide the future funds necessary for the ongoing work in years to come. Many people who make such a legacy provision will notify us at the time so that the partnership can be acknowledged.

If you would like further information about these options, or would like to work with us on implementing any of these ideas, we have volunteer experts available to assist. In any case, you should confirm the tax benefits available in your particular situation with your tax or legal advisors since we cannot give you specific tax advice.
