A Word From The Director
How exciting to be posting our first newsletter on our new website. We would like to say thank you to Brand Navigation and Smart Solutions for their generous and creative help in providing this wonderful addtion to our ministry.
There are so many great things happening within The Shepherd's House ministry right now that it is hard to choose which ones to put into this newsletter. We had two very special appreciation luncheons in June, and we were able to express our thanks to those who have so faithfully supported this work. Stemming from the second luncheon, we were blessed by a very generous contribution of funds to get our shower room completed.
We expect to have the showers built in the next few weeks, and that will enable us to go ahead with our plans to put up the beds and be functioning as a shelter before winter is here. This is something we have been waithing for and working toward for over a year, so we will be very pleased when this next step is accomplished.
Another new development is The Shepherd's Hope Chest, our newly opened second-hand boutique. It offers some wonderful gift and household items for sale. The store is located right next door to the mission on Division Street. Stop by and do some shopping or make a donation.
In the first two and a half months after opening in March we supplied 2,121 services. We had all of the numbers compiled and were surprised that we had been able to provide that manyservices in such a short time. Those services included meals, counseling, bus passes, shower vouchers, clothing, food boxes, job referrals, medical referrals, and service referrals. The numbers are increasing each month, and the services offered are also increasing in range.
Chapel is provided each night before dinner, and our calendar has filled up with volunteers providing the meal, worship, and Bible study. Testimonials from those whose lives are being transformed through The Shepherd's House are being heard daily, and for those of us who have worked so hard to bring this ministry to Central Oregon, we are in awe of what God is doing.
I would like to invite you to stop by and see for yourself what God is doing. Meet the staff and the people who are the reason that The Shepherd's House is open. We are always looking for more volunteers, and of course, there is a great need for financial support on an ongoing basis.
